Do You Have A Talent For Juggling?

If your mind works divergently, juggling several tasks at once actually may be more productive than focusing on one until it's completely finished. However, it's still best to reach some stage of completion before switching tasks.

It's easier to make progress in whole steps than half steps. Always complete some part a task or project before moving on. This helps you establish at least some measurement of progress. Every completion, regardless of size, rewards you with a sense of accomplishment -- and frees you to proceed to the next task. It also provides you with a clean starting point when you come back. Each stage completed becomes a positive whole step -- moving you faster in the right direction.

When you find you're spinning your wheels, change the terrain.

So, Just How Committed to High Achievement Are You?

Think about it. How well and how often do you actually do Act Now Factor 10H? (Seek Some Form of Completion Before Moving On.) No question, this is a major driver of personal and professional success.

A high commitment (10H rated 8 or better) suggests you are someone who is constantly moving things ahead, one step at a time. By consistently reaching some stage of progress before moving on, you gain momentum. You end each task with a positive feeling of achievement. Loose ends are tied up, materials are put away, and notes are made regarding the progress you've made. When you return, you have a well-defined starting point, and begin immediately on the next stage of the project. At the end of the day, you point with pride to the specific progress made and feel satisfied that your time was well spent.

Or not?

A lack of commitment suggests you can put in an exhausting day and have no specific progress to show for your efforts. There are days when you don't finish anything you start. You run at full speed in a million directions, and at the end of the day you can't point to any definitive progress. Everything you touched feels like it is in a state of disarray. On days like this, there is little satisfaction in your work, and even less motivation to continue. When you return the next day, you're forced to start all over because nothing was completed the day before.
