Leadership is the wise use of power.
Power is the capacity to translate intention into reality and sustain it.

"Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that's the price we'll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal."
~ Vince Lombardi

Last week, I asked you to think about the RESULTS you have realized so far this year... and to think back over the preceding 12 months.

Did you have a string of FAILURES?

Great!

This means you are actually taking action.

Do you recognize the mistakes you made?

If so, you are well on your way to producing better RESULTS.

This week, we are going to focus on leadership: Achieving better results with, and though others... creating incredible force-multipliers in your life, by creating greater leverage through powerful interpersonal synergy.

How much more could you have accomplished over the last 12 months if you had entire teams of people working with you?

TQ Greater Results Through Others...

Always remember, your power to lead drives your capacity to succeed.

No question, leadership skills are all important, as they are a key differentiator in organizations of every nature.

Leaders are not "born", but are made—just like transforming a lump of coal into a diamond—under tremendous heat, pressure and time!

This week we will discuss how you can quickly sharpen your leadership skills, by taking 5 simple actions.

To put this discussion in proper context, take a few minutes to think about WHO will be helping you produce greater Results this Year:

My Expected Results:

1) ____________________________
2) ____________________________
3) ____________________________

My Team:

1) ____________________________
2) ____________________________
3) ____________________________

TIME = 2012

TQ What Do You Expect From Your Team?

All last week we talked about the power of crystal-clear EXPECTATIONS... how the road to success is paved with Clear Expectations and Brilliant Execution.

High TQ Performance is the key to success—however you define it: Wealth... Power... or Happiness.

Now, I want you to focus on your TEAM.

What do you Expect from them?

What do you Expect from yourself?

Leadership 101: To be an inspirational leader, you must first be inspired by and absolutely committed to an ideal vision.

Whatever the cause, you'll never attract anyone else's interest if it doesn't inspire you first.

To be an effective leader, you must learn how to share your vision with others in a way that helps them commit whole-heartedly to the same dream.

Inspire others and there's nothing you can't do.

Lead by example; share the dream; commit to the cost; and keep hope alive.

Stop and listen to the audio track for this TQ Factor while you're reading the rest of this page, and while you're completing the exercises below.

This is just one track from our fabulous SYNERGIZE Personal Workshop. If you don't own the complete collection, maybe it's high time to get with the program!

Engage your brain on as many levels as possible and
you'll learn faster, and remember what you've read longer.

"Skill in the art of communication is crucial to a leader's success. He can accomplish nothing unless he can communicate effectively." ~ Norman Allen

TQ Factor 7C's CONTRIBUTION to your performance...

A high commitment to this Factor of your performance suggests you do everything possible to inspire others in a positive way.

You do your best to live your life as a model that others would choose to follow.

You have inspiring visions and strive toward high ideals. You are capable of achieving huge goals, because you have motivated an army of people to contribute their time and talents, hearts and souls to the same dream.

When this happens, they are happy to do whatever needs to be done, because they are swept up in the excitement of achieving the same mission as you.

TQ Factor 7C's COST to your success...

A lack of commitment suggests you are someone who underestimates the impact you have on others.

You may believe that you have a personal mission -- and that only you can accomplish it.

You may mistakenly believe that your personal mission is a solo race -- with no benefit to or effect on anyone else. Both of these beliefs limit your potential. Both restrict the unlimited possibilities that would be available if others could be inspired to join in, and benefit from, what you're trying to accomplish.

TQ The Bottom Line...

If you want to produce significantly better RESULTS... and do it in less TIME, you can. Simply turn up your Power of TQ... by doing Factor 7C more frequently.

This week, take some time to think about what your life would be like if you had more PEOPLE POWER. What could you accomplish then?

Remember, there are tangible RESULTS... and then there is everything else. Become known for producing superior RESULTS and you will become successful beyond your wildest dreams.

Don't and you won't.

If you haven't already, right now is the perfect time to take a baseline assessment of your EXPECTATIONS and your POWER to achieve them. I urge you to take the full 100 question TQ Test to baseline where you are now... and what you will need to do differently to achieve your goals this year. -- E.R. Haas, CEO

TQ Ideas For Action...

Dream Big And Inspire Others To Join Your Team.

The following Ideas for Action represent some of the best thinking on the planet regarding TQ Factor 6C.

They're designed to inspire and motivate you to actually do this factor a great deal more frequently.

Spend some time reading each one. Make sure you understand them. Visualize yourself doing them.

Keep in mind, however, that these ideas will remain ideas until you put them into action.

TQ What Do You Project?

The example you set as a leader will be the model for behavior all the way down the line.

Don't tell them. Show them! Don't just say. Do!

TQ Can Anything Stop A Shared Vision?

The strongest force in nature is a shared vision. Nothing can stand in its way.

Find someone with whom you can share your vision with before the end of the week. Give them all the details to see -- really see -- the ideal you want to accomplish.

TQ What Are You Trying To Accomplish?

If you create a shared sense of vision that others also truly value, they'll astound you with their ability and exceed your expectations. They'll do these things, not because they have to, but because they want to.

Dream big, and bring everyone else along with you.

TQ What's The Biggest Goal For Your Team Right Now?

A big goal inspires everyone. It boosts them up, and gives them something to work for.

A clear understanding of the team's vision and a belief in the importance of that vision are the keys to motivating people.

TQ Who Needs A Little Inspiration Right Now?

Inspiration is the critical catalyst for goal accomplishment. Do whatever is necessary to motivate your people to do their best work possible.

All things become possible when you inspire others to achieve their own greatness.

TQ Do You Ever Wonder How Much Gets Done When You Aren't Around?

To be an effective leader, you must communicate your vision and priorities in such a way that the group is able to stay focused, even when you're not around.

To lead others along the path of your dream, share its compelling beauty and ultimate rewards with them.

I could be a better leader by taking Time out for what is need and worry more about quality instead of quick turn arounds! Smile more in the face of lots on a todo's list and i guess not be too one tracked..
plan better and prepare to win
be more positive! stop trying to please everyone, keep on task to my plans of action and follow through!
I had no real vision for myself. It was impossible to attract much of anything except apathy.
no my biggest failure was me not fully being myself I guess i never used Vision on my self and who i am or open up.. Well that was the past!

I am the equally most important member because I am able to improve and set an example.
Motivation, Mission and Set Goals--I have trouble with "Someday, I will" because memories of past failures (fear),unnecessary hard work (intimidation) and weakness (doubt) immediately surface. "It is OK to trick yourself into action" My trick is to take away the strings and free the imagination. So I use "I desire to...", "I want to...", "Someday, I see myself..." "Someday, I want to be...", "Someday, I want to give..", "Someday, I could.."

After selecting the best of these visions I can commit and use "Someday I will..."

I have a friend who is a great leader...when you talk with him, even if you are in a room of a thousand people, his attention is on you 100%, and he is focused on what you are saying in such a way that you know he values what you are saying...he makes you feel as if you were the most important person in the world! He hangs on your every word and encourages you and believes in you! That is a true leader!
I would rate my progress an 8.
My progress is January was below expectations but February is turning out to be great.
I would rate this at a level of 9:

Initial goal was to make a record, for this I have built a complete studio with the help of a few good friends and have gathered every instrument needed for this record, as well as amps, effects, etc.

So far:

My music studio has been built, far beyond expectations. Almost everything connected, music has been progressing well also, just need to make sure that I don't get distracted and sidetracked from the initial plans.
I admire the ablity to be assertive kindly... Sometimes when i take leadership roles i tend to get bossy and all i really want is to be nice and be assertive and not be stepped on!
My #1 goal is to get back to the roots of Art work and Paint at least 1 painting a month!
This goal is at a 9 i slacked a little this month but still painted at least the 1 and only 1 this time~
Being an example of the guidance that you provide to others. I admire a leader that get in the trenches and provides proof that follow their lead will result in victory.

Stop doing everything myself...
Learn to trust, appreciate and let go ...
I could second that comment very easily. But how does one really learn to trust others to let go. Budget constraints leave very little room for error.
I can fully reject poverty. My true nature is abundant. I can live better, when I act like my healthy-self. I'm not proud of my life. I will keep going until I am proud. When I get there, I'll figure something out. But until then, my main focus is to design a life I can be proud of.
Energy drainers. Are they things, people, situations or feelings ? I have a challenge with the word "ruthless" (with out pity or compassion). I can get over the pity part as that's not helpful but I can not eliminate compassion and empathy. Most of my efforts and results are positive and constructive and therefore not energy drainers. Physically, I exercise through my pain and hope to regain flexibility, strength, endurance and fitness as part of a recovery program. Nutritiously, I drink lots of water, eat pure organic fresh fruits and vegetables and fish for omega's etc. all energy supporting. Mentally, I take time out to dream, visualize optimal success, brainstorm appropriate solutions that work effectively to overcome challenges, breathe deeply often, reset or centre myself and renew focus constantly, in addition to keeping my attitude in check.

I am in contact with a lots of people who have extreme challenges and many times this is energy draining in the sense that I feel a deep sadness for the pain and suffering of the individual and humanity. I cannot eliminate this feeling, nor can I ruthlessly abandon the people who touch my life and need encouragement and assistance to overcome their challenges. As deeply as I am impacted by my feelings, my attitude takes an overhaul each time, and, after listening empathetically to their stories and providing heartfelt encouragement, I regain my balance, see what it is that I can do to contribute to the solution and then do it.

My goal/vision is to bring love, understanding, resolution, peace, harmony, balance and acceptance to the temporary situation or current reality, in addition to, providing a healthy and meaningful growth opportunity via the sharing of personal experience, sharing and/or training of appropriate skills, thus, encouraging the individuals to face, accept, deal with and overcome their pain, carry on briliantly and courageously, smile more as they face and see the opportunity in the lesson of their or my experience and overcome their challenges as I continue to meet and exceed mine. Contributing to and seeing the healing process come to fruition, in turn, of course, makes me smile more too :-) Every person healed becomes a new associate and willing team member.

The only thing I can do to handle my kind of energy drainers is press the refresh and reset button on my attitude/gratitude. ie PAIN/SADNESS....find a solution. Start it now. Get it done. Then, as the results start pouring in, express heartfelt gratitude to the Creator of all great miracles, not the least of which is the discovery and implementation of the TQ Process! Sincerely, appreciatively, and, gratefully, Gabriele L Grach
wow...impressive.

I would offer this thought: find your own version of 'teflon' to protect your internal focus - you'll not need to stop to hit 'refresh' as often - incorporate this naturally and there will be no slowdown.
You sound as if this is a professional calling. if so then good for you.. if not, then it's still a great thing, unless it prevents you from achieving your dreams.
I have walked away from those I sought to help because I am not strong enough to help anyone ( beyond the basics of love, understanding, acceptance) and to also keep my dreams alive. I give into these people, devote too much time to them, and take a backseat to myself. So I now stay away from those people ( new relationships) like the plague.
I seek more positive people to spend time with. I find myself more on track, more upbeat, more myself.
When I am more successful in my chosen area, I can go back and do more for others.. and I know I can do so in a more powerful way. This does has to be qualified though.. If a good freind had a problem - a critical issue- I would still do everything I could to assist- and they would also come to my aid- i think this is key. Help others who also help you. Stay away from those who need help, but cannot assist you. Not until you are strong enough to not feel the drain upon your resources, because it will sink you.
Because I was just 'executing' projects - doing doing doing - not aiming high to attain a sustained form of success...I didnot cash on my strengths and build something stronger...
Because I never felt vision is so important

communicate e.g. clearly to my assistant eacg individual task I expect to be done by him. Make a vision statement to set a mental frame within all of my groupworking members, eg. Hmmn... I am on no.3 where the progress of my 2008 goal No.1 is concerned...
Okay. So I am still getting ready to get ready! What an impass I am to myself. This is getting old.

I am marking my calendar with an x for every day that I exercise. This is good.

I have switched to Excel for LTC record keeping and am on my way to completiong of the 2007 records. This is excellent.

I am making family a priority. Excellent!

I am reading TQ and thinking more positive thoughts about my business and my self than I have in a long time.
I most admire integrity in leaders. If a leader has that they have it all. Without it they have nothing.
Dulcie could be a help if I would give her direction. It would take only a few minutes of my time a week to direct her in helping me to reach my goals. Such as........getting the SOLD postcard out to Sunset Hills residents.
I am getting there, the amount
of information is almost overwhelming.
I admire confidence in one's ability to make quick, solid decisions on the fly...with the knack of staying on course with the original vision.
I admire in leaders the ability to to stay calm no matter what is thrown at them as well as being able to step back and be creative on how to solve problems.

My 2009 goals would be closer to realization if these people were helping me:

Mom
Dad
Hiro
Shigueru
Ruben
Art and Lori

I need to work on my communications skills and let them know that I need their support and cooperation. In the case of Art and Lori, I need their guidance and leadership.
If Ben and I worked together we could accomplish so much. At work, if our sales team worked more closely together we could be in the top 3 companies in NA.
Yes, I would find a job if I involve more people to help me find a job that I can enjoy and where I can grow as a person and as an employee.
I need more focus ind. and positive ind. helping me out.
My mom helps me out at everything I do and I think its time for me to grow up
I need order and a a system to succeed
successes, i have managed to make prompt decisions to go 2 university ,study accounting and finance and also to endevour to do teaching maths which i have embarked on at a school,i have achieved a remarkable start in my ability to influence and teach by encouraging and changing behaviours.
among my dismal failures that i am yet to ractify,is failure to remain on strategic position consistently ie.with relationships with people with whom i can leverage. goals such as applying for docs, saving and clearing debts, been resourcefully wasteful due to lack of goal focus.
No I did not becuase I did not have a clear vision only vague dreams. It would have made a huge impact if I had had them written down.
The one thing I need to do to bring me closer to my destination, is the one thing that's broken and I don't know how to repair it. So, I keep trying, keep holding on, and keep moving forward.
I wish that Papa was w/me here- He is my rock as far as pushing/encouraging me to be better/do better-educate myself..etc. Dr. Sylvia Held.. my councelor, friend, spiritual mentor/Christian sister.. To be very honest in doing what they say they will do. This has help me to learn to be more honest and by keeping my words. The Bible say, "That I am snared by the words of my mouth." Been honest with people, is away for me to stop the worry and it is also away for me to focus in on the positive part of life. Each part of my life is a section out of a moment where story can live and be live out within the heart of people that is willing to follow my leadership to the next level in life. By each person take the worry and pain and we learn to build up on the problems of the world. I think that we can more into the overflow of life and win the world around us. Our words are our only tool that will bring us to a better place. If we are found to be a lie in the eyes of the people, then who are we to teach and lead into the next area of life. Let's learn to be honest in all we do in life.
My most important team member, will have to be Tash Winston. Her skill and support of working the system and doing the job to her best performs is very important to me. She is a major part of my team and I miss her when she is on dates.
I want to graduate high school.

No i didn't even understand the importance of whats going on with my life. Upon knowing that i was responsible for the lifestyle i had, i surely knew that change had to happen. By the grace of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that change happened.
Act now, get it done, good decisons based of preperation and good planning
1- the uplifting spirit and self confidence to everybody and encouraging
2- the happiness and secure feeling and trust that everybody will get
3- clear and to the point communications
4- freedom of suggestions
5- respect and love
The ability to motivate me to action
Leadership Traits I Admire:
Confidence and the willingness to persevere and stand on strong principles, even in the face of adversity and criticism.
My three biggest obstacles to achieving highest goals:

1. Lack of vision, clarity of purpose
2. Fatigue
3. Pressing issues and circumstances;
inability to manage clutter and
distractions.
There are times when I feel that my viewpoint or comments are wasted on those I talk to. It would better serve everyone that I talk less and do more. I have failed to convince others that we have the same goal. They want to have fun first and work last. It has caused a decrease in production and cash flow. It is all my fault. My actions , not my words will make the difference.
Keep my goals for the day accomplished and checked off. I will feel better about myself and not have so much anxiety What i have to do is important to get done, because when I shift gear to be threre for other, I can be there-- not worryng about when I will get my stuff done.
Send Valentines to everyone I love and all my friends. Make someones day...someone who is alone and lonely...Let them know they are significant!!!
Be clear about what my goals are and write down an action plan . each day I should be accountable for something checked of that moves me in the direction of my goal The more checks the faster I will attain it Today make a plan for my day
My greatest success this year so far has been our Men's Conference. Even though we went over budget, it was still a success due to those who were blessed by it and to the lessons learned. As well as I know better, I did a really stupid thing, I didn't create a budget! Probably even if we had created one, we still would have gone in the hole because the weather turned really bad with snow and ice. Specifically next year we will have a budget and will have done a better job at raising funds before the event to help offset any unforseens.

I did a really good job of delegating but poorly at setting deadlines. My issue is having people that surround me that is not deadline oriented even though I am. I didn't recognize it until now that I've allowed them to change me. New people are coming into our ministry that appear to have a servant leader's heart and are excited about helping me fulfill the mission of the ministry.

I will become a better leader by remaining enthusiastic about my dreams, require deadlines on all projects, expect people to perform at their highest level possible and expect to achieve all of what I've set out to do.
My biggest failure over the past 5 years was my real estate business. I got what I wanted and let the other fall by the way side. I spent the money instead of re-investing it into the business. When I should have attempted to do some things myself to keep the properties up, I got lazy and sat down because my vision wasn't properly communicated with others. I just wanted folk to do it for me. I was frustrated and getting poorer by the minute. As a result of that, I ended up loosing 2 properties and barely hanging on to one. I must re-commit myself to my property business because I know that's an investment that will keep on giving and it will allow me the riches that I want to have even while I'm sleeping, preaching, doing workshops, loving my family and doing leisure.

This time I must properly communicate my vision to myself, my family and my partners.
in my life it is my wife. She and I have been married over twenty years. I feel, I know that with out her support, I would not be here today. In fact if I had listened more , I may have been more successful in my professional life, as well as my personal life. If you don't have a good partnership at home, you professional life will surfer.
5 - My number one goal for 2011 is to finish my degree. While I AM in school and technically only have one semester left...I have not been continuously enforcing it being my number one priority..and I have taken on other responsibilities that I am allowing to get in the way.
4.5 - Proved goal setting works. Steeped back and lost focus. Now today I commit to 1. Goal Setting 2. Achieving
